This week, I’m thinking about vacation photos. Zu took her little indestructible camera down to Disney two weeks ago and while she didn’t have it out all the time, she managed to take quite a few photos. It was so fun to watch how she framed things and what she chose to focus on. She was so confident in her choices and really entertained herself adding various color filters to the photos (and then, more importantly, determined that the photos should be the “real colors”)

I managed to fix the date, but the time was one hour off. Still better than the last batch!

Given her interest and obvious skills, I think it may be time to upgrade her to something that takes a better quality photo.

This week in reading. . .
I read Not Like The Movies, but didn’t love it despite the Nora Ephron “everything is copy” premise and then read The Eden Test by my former colleague Adam Sternbergh, a dark and twisty suspense novel. It was a wild ride.

In other book news, a romance book swap is a cute idea. NYC friends, you should go to this if you can!

And, I highly recommend contributing to this fundraiser for Taylor & Co. Support your local bookstore (and ones that aren’t local to you too!)

This week in listening. . .
This podcast with Nancy Silverton, Laurie Ochoa, and Ruth Reichl feels like one I should be listening to!

Absolutely listening to the new Kacey Musgraves.

This week in TV. . .
Elsbeth has finally premiered and I am so so happy. I just love Carrie Preston so much.

Survivor is back! I cannot believe how many seasons there have been and that I’ve watched them all.

This week in a gif. . .

This week in movies. . .
Against my better judgement and good sense, I watched the Mean Girls musical movie. I do not like musicals! Why did I do it? I love Reneé Rapp. And I wanted to see the inside jokes, but why oh why were there so many songs?

This week in a newsletter. . .
Is it mom rage or marriage rage? Lyz Lenz’ publicity tour for her book has led to so many interesting interviews.

This week in google searches. . .

  • viscount vs duke

  • when will it stop raining

  • survivor buffs through the years

This week in one good thing. . .
Seeing Bilal live (even if he will never seem to get around to my favorite songs) is one of my favorite things. He’s such a singer, such a performer. Love.

This week in a quote. . .
In my social media archives and in profile photos, I encounter previous versions of my face every day. Past and present exist simultaneously, making the self that once seemed unified appear fragmented into a series of slightly different faces.” - Erika Thorkelson

This week in artsy stuff and photo things. . .
This intense map of who lived when is fantastic. Especially useful for someone like me who has a really hard time remembering when people lived in relation to each other.

Audrey Hirsch is so good at illustrating serious issues. This graphic essay on the consequences of “casual” sexual assault (unwanted touches and groping)

I see myself drawing a mind map in the very near future.

Always and forever want to read everything about book cover design, even if the piece is 2+ years old.

This week on the internet. . .
The internet’s boyfriends are all Irish. No complaints from me.

Zendaya on the Dune 2 red carpet was just ICONIC. Vogue interviewed Law Roach about all the looks.

This piece about how Disney is trying to salvage the relationship with Number One TERF JK Rowling because #money.

Kirsten Dunst, a relatable queen: Would she ever do another superhero movie? "Yes," Dunst says with refreshing honesty, "because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother."

I was crying by the second paragraph of this piece by Mosab Abu Toha on his personal relationship to the famine happening in Gaza.

Well look at this well timed Disney adult piece!

Farewell Tinyletter, you were a lovely platform.

This conversation between authors Leslie Jamison and Rachel Lyon.

Dammit, I don’t have time to add another game to my morning lineup!
