Leave it to Leonor #352

This week, I'm thinking about why. Mamiche is in a real inquisitive phase these days and it is like non-stop questions. Like, all day every day. All types of questions, in all situations, non-stop. It is hilarious and exhausting in equal measure. So here, I tried very hard to keep track of a fraction of the questions I've fielded since Sunday. There are many not accounted for because there is no one in the world who could keep up with this amount of questions. I've also added a few clarifications where necessary. And yes, this is very very long. Let that sink in as you scroll.

  • can I drink that? (water at the splashpad)

  • are we going to the zoo? (I had already told her we were going to the zoo at least three times in the last hour?)

  • is that poop? (someone/s headband on the running path in the park?)

  • what is that?

  • where are we going now?

  • what else is makeup?

  • is there a sleeping crane in the forest?

  • what fruits are pink?

  • can you play with me? (x91845702)

  • can I have one of those things that look like empanadas what are they called again? (referring to curry puffs which she has had dozens of times)

  • do you have a skeleton in your body?

  • are skeletons alive?

  • are my lips still shiny? (after using half a stick of cotton candy flavored lip balm)

  • now what are we going to do?

  • can you use the other floss?

  • can I use the other floss?

  • can I go to bed now?

  • can I play in your bed?

  • is this the pad thai chicken or home chicken?

  • is this hot?

  • is this cold?

  • why did you put so much corn on the floor?

  • where is fox bear?

  • where is pink bunny?

  • where is mousey?

  • where is princess mouse?

  • where is the bead? (a microscopic bead that she has chosen to be obsessed with)

  • can I have some of yours?

  • can I push the stroller?

  • would you like to cheer for me?

  • can you introduce me? (a "ladies and gentlemen, now coming to the stage. . ." situation)(x47431720)

  • can I have another snack (x17362717)

  • did you know these are diamonds in here? (referring to sequins)

  • are zoos open on this day? (meaning Monday)

  • can you buy me one?

  • is this sharp? (regarding the edge of farfalle pasta)

  • can I have something else?

  • is today Friday? (asked on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday)

  • can you carry me?

  • why is it nighttime there? (referring to my sister and brother-in-law who are in a different time zone)

  • who is picking me up?

  • what is that light? (referring to a small light that has been in her room since she was an infant)

  • can I go to the splash pad?

  • is school open now? (asked at 6:30 am)

  • do I have to go to school?

  • are all jalapeños spicy?

  • can you help me? (pick up all the toys that she took out)

  • can I wear those?

  • can i watch another show?

  • why (asked INFINITY times)

  • can we snuggle? (obviously this is the best question on the list)

This week in reading. . .
Ashley Audrain wrote the compelling and creepy book, The Push so I was not surprised that The Whispers was disturbing and dark. I'd Rather Burn than Bloom by debut novelist Shannon F. Rogers was a lovely, if devastating, book about family and grief. I will never ever learn my lesson about reading what a book is about before automatically reading it when it arrives in my Libby app There are No Rules For This was ALSO about grief and the beauty of friendship. The Writing Retreat went so far off the rails that is sort of ruined the very good premise. What do you get when you take the elements of the fantastic The Royal We, put them in a blender and dilute it? This book.
