Leave it to Leonor #276

This week, I'm thinking about rules to live by. Roxane Gay wrote about Sister Corita Kent's art department rules and then asked about which ones we live by.

These are the rules at the forefront of my mind right now.

  1. Talk to yourself the way you talk to your friends.

  2. If you make a mistake, own up to it. It's the best and fastest way to move on.

  3. "If you're angry at everyone, you need to eat something, and if you feel like everyone is angry at you, you need to go to sleep" - I don't know who said this but this is so accurate

  4. Just cut your hair. It'll grow back. (But not bangs, Leonor)

  5. When you get the job with the insurance, go to all the doctors.

  6. Helping and/or letting other people shine doesn't take any away from you.

  7. You have to do the work. [This is so annoyingly true for like, everything]

  8. When you are out with your people, put your phone away.

  9. You will rarely regret going on the trip.

  10. "Drink your water, take your meds, call your person" - Tracy & Heben, Another Round

Obviously I am very curious what you have on your own list, so if you are inclined, please share.

This week in reading. . .
I have picked up and put down countless books this week. BookTok influenced me to read The Love Hypothesis, but I didn't love it. But then I posted on IG and got some really great suggestions. Now I am cautiously optimistic about The Firekeeper's Daughter (thank you EH!), but I cannot declare the slump over until I finish this and one more book.

This week in listening. . .
Nichole Perkins and Casey McQuiston on Unlady Like talking about romance novels.

Brandi Carlile on Song Exploder

This week in TV. . .
