This week in reading. . .
The title and cover art do this very fun book zero favors - really fun world building and magic. Con? It’s a duology and I hate waiting. Speaking of covers, I kept ignoring Tilt in my library queue because I think the cover is so bad. It had been so long since I’d put it on my list so when I finally started reading it, I was hardly prepared for the post-Big One scenes. It was very very readable and also very very hard to read. I listened to Everyone is Lying to You which was a thriller with MAHA mom influencers at the center. I am still learning about how much the narrator of an audiobook effects how I feel about the book overall.

This week in Good Hang with Amy Poehler . .
I am not a fan of this week’s guest, Aziz Ansari, so I was apprehensive about listening. I was glad they talked so much about Keanu Reeves. Amy should’ve invited him on! Also this week, Amy was the host of SNL and while I didn’t love the joke they riffed on for the joke off on Update, I loved the spirit of it. Also, a New Yorker piece (which is a little rude!)

This week in TV. . .
I haven’t started yet, but Elsbeth is back and I am excited to see all the guests for this season.

I am, in fact, still watching Task. I do not know why there is another episode after the most recent one. Wrap it up, folks!

This week in a gif. . .

This week in a newsletter. . .
Dacy Gillepsie re-pubbing an essay on why we are still are following “flattering” fashion advice. Worth a read.

This week in D’Angelo. . .
Like everyone else in my age group, I was absolutely gutted by the news of D’Angelo’s death at 51. A devastating loss. I’ve been watching this full concert and am so grateful it exists and that we were blessed with his talent for any amount of time.

This week in google searches. . .

  • why is it called a white lie

  • NYRR marathon results archive

  • tristan da cunha

This week in one good thing. . .
Took Zu to a book event for the release of the latest Dory and it was so fun to see how excited she was.

This week in a quote. . .
“Making meaning from leftovers. Trusting that beauty can still be assembled from what’s been torn.” - Petya K. Grady

This week in artsy stuff and photo things. . .
Zu would lose her mind at a tiny art gallery.

Love this photo project of teens in Korea.

This cardboard template shop is BRILLIANT.

This week in last week’s most popular link. . .
